Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 7, 2025

Introduction:
Black Wealth Events (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our website or attend our professional networking and development events. It also outlines your rights under U.S. law. By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

Information We Collect

Personal Information: We may collect personal information that you provide to us, such as:

  • Contact Data: Name, email address, telephone number, postal address, and organization or company (if applicable).
  • Account Data: If you create an account or register for an event, we may collect login credentials (like username and password) and profile information.
  • Payment Information: When purchasing tickets or services, payment details (e.g. credit card number, billing address) are processed via our payment processor (e.g. Stripe). We do not store full credit card numbers; that information is handled securely by Stripe.
  • Event Participation Data: Information related to your event registrations, attendance, and preferences. For example, if you fill out event forms, surveys, or networking profiles (including those facilitated through NetWurk.ai), we collect the information you submit.
  • Communications: If you contact us with an inquiry or request, we will collect the information you provide in that communication (such as your email or phone correspondence).

Automatically Collected Data: When you visit our website, certain data is collected automatically:

  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar tools (see our Cookie & Data Policy for details) to collect information about your interactions with our site. This may include your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, and the dates/times of access.
  • Analytics Data: We use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics to gather behavioral information about how users navigate and use our site. This data includes details such as what pages you visit, how long you stay, and how you arrived at our site. Analytics data is generally aggregated and does not directly identify you, but it may be linked to other unique identifiers. Google Analytics may set its own cookies to perform these services.
  • Log Files: Our servers automatically record certain information when you use our site, including your IP address and device information, to help us diagnose problems, administer the site, and ensure security.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Providing and Managing Services: To register you for events, process ticket purchases, confirm your attendance, and provide you with information or services you request. For example, we use your information to issue event tickets/confirmations and to allow access to event-related platforms like NetWurk.ai for networking features.
  • Communication: To communicate with you about your account or registrations, send updates and reminders about events you’ve signed up for, and respond to your inquiries. We may also send you organizational news or newsletters if you have subscribed (you can opt-out of marketing emails at any time).
  • Improvement and Personalization: To analyze website usage and event feedback so we can improve our offerings and user experience. For instance, understanding which event topics are most popular or how users navigate our site helps us tailor content and future events.
  • Marketing and Promotions: To inform you of upcoming events, programs, or services that may interest you. We do not spam; any promotional communications will be in accordance with applicable law (such as CAN-SPAM for email). You can unsubscribe from promotional communications via the opt-out link provided in emails or by contacting us.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect our organization, our attendees, and our website. We may use data to prevent fraudulent transactions, detect security incidents, and guard against illegal or unauthorized activity.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations, such as financial record-keeping for purchases or responding to lawful requests by public authorities.

Third-Party Services and Sharing

We value your privacy and do not sell your personal information to third parties for profit. However, we do share certain data with trusted third-party service providers who help us deliver our services, each of which has its own privacy and security policies:

  • NetWurk.ai: We partner with NetWurk.ai to enhance our networking and event management capabilities (for example, managing event registrations, CRM, or providing a networking platform for attendees). Information you provide for events (like your profile information or contact details) may be processed through NetWurk.ai’s systems. NetWurk.ai acts as a service provider to us, and they are contractually required to use your data only for our specified purposes and to protect it. (For details on NetWurk.ai’s data practices, you can review their privacy policy on their website.)
  • Stripe: We use Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor, to handle all credit card transactions. When you make a purchase (such as buying an event ticket), the payment information you provide is transmitted directly to Stripe. We do not receive or store your full credit card number or security code. Stripe may collect and process your payment data subject to their privacy policy. (We encourage you to review Stripe’s Privacy Policy to understand how they manage your information.)
  • Google Analytics: As mentioned, Google Analytics is used to collect usage data on our website. Google may use cookies and tracking pixels on our site to gather information on how you use our services. This information helps us analyze site traffic and improve our website. The data collected by Google Analytics may be transmitted to and stored on Google’s servers. Google is restricted from using the data for purposes other than providing analytics services to us. (For more information, see Google’s Analytics terms and Google’s privacy policy.)
  • Email and Marketing Tools: We may use third-party email service providers or marketing platforms to send communications (for example, an email newsletter service). Those providers will have access to your email address and name as needed to send messages on our behalf, but they are not permitted to use your information for other purposes.
  • Other Service Providers: We may also share information with other vendors who perform functions on our behalf, such as website hosting, data storage, or customer service support. These providers are given access only to the information necessary to perform their functions and are contractually obligated to protect your data.

Legal and Safety Disclosures: We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or in a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with a legal obligation, subpoena, or court order; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Black Wealth Events; (c) prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with our services; (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public; or (e) protect against legal liability.

Business Transfers: In the event of a corporate transaction such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred to a successor or affiliate as part of that transaction. In such cases, we will ensure the recipient of the data is bound by similar privacy commitments.

Cookies and Tracking

For detailed information on how we use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies, please review our Cookie & Data Policy. In summary, we use these tools to improve your experience (for example, keeping you logged in or remembering your preferences) and to understand how our site is used. You have options to control or disable cookies through your browser settings and other mechanisms, which are explained in the Cookie & Data Policy. Note that some features of our site may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

Data Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration. This includes using encryption where appropriate (for instance, our website is served over HTTPS to secure data in transit) and limiting access to personal data to employees or contractors who need it to perform their duties.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You share and transmit information at your own risk. In the unfortunate event of a data breach or security incident affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law. We also encourage you to help protect your data by using strong passwords for any accounts and safeguarding your credentials.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it (outlined above), unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. For example, we may retain certain transaction details for accounting/tax obligations or legal compliance. When personal information is no longer needed, we will delete it or anonymize it so it can no longer be associated with you.

Your Rights and Choices (U.S. Law)

Depending on where you live and applicable laws, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. Black Wealth Events is a U.S.-based company and complies with U.S. privacy laws. If you are a resident of a state with specific privacy regulations (for example, California), you are entitled to exercise the following rights:

  • Right to Know: You can request that we disclose what personal information we have collected about you, including the categories of information, the sources, the purposes for collecting it, and the third parties with whom we share it. You may also request information about any personal data we have sold or disclosed for a business purpose (Note: We do not sell personal information).
  • Right to Access: You have the right to obtain a copy of the personal information we hold about you, in a portable and readily usable format.
  • Right to Deletion: You can ask us to delete personal information we have collected from you. We will honor deletion requests to the extent required by law. Please note there are some exceptions — for instance, we may retain information needed to complete transactions you’ve requested, for security, for legal compliance (e.g. record-keeping obligations), or other internal business purposes allowed by law.
  • Right to Correct: If you believe that any personal information we have about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct or update it.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: As stated, we do not sell your personal information. If in the future we were to consider “selling” personal data or using it for targeted advertising as defined under certain state laws, you would have the right to opt out. We will provide a clear method to do so (such as a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link) if that ever becomes relevant.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these privacy rights. This means we won’t deny you services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service just because you made a privacy request. Our service to you remains the same whether or not you exercise your rights.

Exercising Your Rights: To exercise the rights described above, you or your authorized agent can contact us (see the “Contact Us” section below). Please specify which right you wish to exercise and provide enough information for us to verify your identity. For example, we may need to confirm your email address or other details we already have on file to ensure the request is legitimate. We will respond to privacy requests within the timeframe required by law (generally within 45 days for California residents, with the possibility of a reasonable extension if necessary). If we need more information to verify or fulfill your request, we will let you know. There is no fee for making a verifiable request, but please note that we are only required to respond to each consumer for certain requests a limited number of times per year as set by law.

Email and Marketing Choices: If you no longer wish to receive marketing emails from us, you may opt out at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in the footer of any promotional email, or by contacting us with your request. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional or informational messages related to services you’ve requested (such as event registration confirmations, updates about an event you’re attending, or responses to your inquiries).

“Do Not Track” Signals: Our website may not respond to “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals sent by browsers. DNT is a web browser setting that requests a website not track the visitor’s activity. There is currently no consensus or industry standard for honoring DNT signals, so we handle user data as described in this policy regardless of such signals. You can manage tracking through other settings (see our Cookie & Data Policy for options to control cookies and analytics).

Children’s Privacy: Our website and events are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you are under 13, please do not use our site or provide any information. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have information about a minor child, please contact us so we can resolve the issue. (For minors aged 13–17, our events and site are generally intended for adult professionals; minors should only participate with parental consent and supervision.)

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy. If changes are significant, we may also provide a more prominent notice (such as a banner on our website or an email notification). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of our services after any changes to this Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
